Claritza Maldonado joined the Studio in 2025, bringing a background in interdisciplinary research, teaching, and arts and cultural programming. She looks forward to collaborating with instructors to create accessible, textured, and equity-focused digital learning experiences. Claritza brings a dedication to cultivating transformative, collaborative, and creative pedagogies across courses, projects, and partnerships.
Her work has spanned higher education, museums, archives, and cultural centers. Before joining UIC, Claritza served as Assistant Director in Multicultural Student Affairs at Northwestern University. She has also taught and conducted research in American Studies at Brown University, where she was a doctoral candidate. While in Providence, Rhode Island, she also worked as a Museum Educator (Spalter Teaching Fellow) for K-12 Teacher and Education Programs at the RISD Museum, as a Graduate Coordinator at the Sarah Doyle Center for Women and Gender, and as a Writing Center Associate at the Sheridan Center for Teaching and Learning.
Her instructional design approach is shaped by her interdisciplinary background, public humanities training, and relational design. Claritza earned an M.A. in Public Humanities from Brown University and a B.A. in Linguistics with a minor in Latina/o Studies from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She also holds certificates in Accessibility and Inclusive Design, Reimagining Research (Pause + Effect), the Sheridan Center Teaching Certificate, and was a Humanities Without Walls Fellow.
She enjoys gardening, dancing, and exploring local food spots and businesses.
